Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of AI-Proxy (the “Software”) and the aiproxy.meta-thinking.net website (the “Site”), operated by Meta Thinking (“we”, “us”). By creating an account, installing the Software, or making a donation, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Software

AI-Proxy is a local, self-hosted gateway that runs on your own machine. It lets you route requests from OpenAI-compatible tools to AI services you separately subscribe to. You are responsible for complying with the terms of any third-party AI provider whose account you connect. AI-Proxy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those providers.

2. Accounts

You need a Meta Thinking account (provided via our authentication partner, Clerk) to use account features such as API keys and device activation. You are responsible for keeping your credentials and API keys secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.

3. Pricing & donations

AI-Proxy is free — every feature, for everyone. There are no paid tiers and nothing is gated behind payment. You may optionally support the project with a one-time or recurring donation, processed by PayPal. Donations are voluntary, unlock no features, and confer no additional rights or entitlements. Recurring support can be cancelled at any time from your PayPal account. Donation refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Software: no reselling access, circumventing usage limits of third-party providers, unlawful activity, or attempting to disrupt or reverse-engineer our services beyond what applicable law permits. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms or the terms of connected providers.

5. Intellectual property

The Software and Site, excluding your content and third-party components, are owned by Meta Thinking. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software for its intended purpose. You retain all rights to your own content and data.

6. Disclaimer & liability

The Software is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meta Thinking is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from third-party AI providers changing or terminating their services. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Software and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability) will survive.
